Santhanam made slow and steady progress with notable films like Azhagiya Tamizh Magan, Polladhavan, Santhosh Subramaniam, and Billa. His talent was not lost on the powers that be and Shankar himself gave him the leading role in Arai E n 305il Kadavul which he produced. Critics were appreciative of his performance in the film.
