All three were cop flicks. Suriya, Vikram, and Kamal Hassan were police officials who were morally upright but mavericks nevertheless. The terrific trio also wound up sacrificing loved ones on the altar of the job that was so dear to them and avenged them by beating up the villains responsible to pulp before killing them. This formula seemed to be perfect because the three films clicked with the audience.
