Born in Virudhuagar, she fled her home at the tender age of 12. Tamil cinema embraced her and in that warmth she has acted in more than 100 films until the ripe age of 85. This grand old lady of Tamil cinema was a seasoned actress excelling in any role offered. Her passing away is a great loss that has left a deep void hard to fill.
