A debutant director, Suseendran made a film called Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu with no known stars and a script that was as far from the beaten track as it was possible to get. The film was about an underdog (Vishnu) who managed to squeeze into a Kabbadi team with an unbeaten record for failure, get a pretty young thing to fall for him, and treat himself to a small helping of small-town glory. It made you laugh a little and cry a little and it came close to cinematic perfection.
