Sasikumar made his debut as an actor and director with the brilliantly crafted Subramaniapuram sans the usual trappings of commercial cinema. It was a part bone-jarringly violent and part heartbreakingly tender film. Jai and Sasikumar came up with impressive performances with Jai in what may just be the finest death scene in Tamil cinema. The movie went on to become a winner and so did Sasikumar.
