There have been many movies made which have
dealt on the thought of the things that can
go wrong when a robot starts thinking like
a human. Endhiran goes to a whole new level
with romance and emotions being part of the
robots mindset, as said by Chitty himself
in the trailer (‘enakkul unarvugal program
seyyapattulladhu’). So, what happens
when the robot develops feelings towards his
creator’s love interest? In a conflict
between master and robot, it is usually the
robot that has to bow down. But, Chitty is
different, far too sophisticated, far too
advanced to take orders from his master on
matters of love. If you have watched the trailer,
you might remember this sequence where Chitty
and Vaseegaran argue over this matter. Vaseegaran
says ‘Naan dhan unna padachen, idhukku
paer dhan droham’ (I created you, this
is what I call deceit), to which Chitty replies
‘You can do this Vasee, idhukku paer
dhan thyagam’, asking Vaseegaran to
sacrifice his love. It is a pretty easy guess
that this is the point from where master and
robot develop animosities towards each other
– the biggest turning point (one wonders)
of Endhiran.
