Every
actress doesn’t get the opportunity
to debut in a role that has such
scope for emoting. Iyarkai was a
rare breed in Tamil cinema, from
a director who believed in being
different and it was duly recognized
with the National Award for the
Best Regional Feature Film. Kutty
Radhika’s role was loved by
everyone who watched the movie and
the film itself became hugely popular
even though it might not have fully
reflected in the box office collections.
But, even after such a distinguished
debut she couldn’t hold on
in Tamil cinema. We don’t
know why. We could hazard a guess
by saying that her role in Iyarkai
was so well etched that it was impossible
for any director to think of putting
her in a regular heroine character.
