Engeyum Eppodhum has at least 3 exceptionally well shot montages including the ‘Sotta Sotta’ and ‘Un peyar theriyathu’ numbers. But, the ‘Govinda’ number takes the cake. A day in the city, you can call it, with two of the lead characters. The director made sure that the song did not get too cute. The distance between two strangers who were forced together by the circumstances is maintained well throughout. The dialogues intersperse the songs at just the right time and there is a good dose of humour. The director also shows very effectively some aspects of Chennai city.
