''WE HAVE ALREADY BANNED PEPSI AND COKE, BUT WE WILL MANAGE THE LOSS''

Many theatres across Tamil Nadu have already started avoiding selling foreign beverages in their canteen. In Chennai, a normal theatre-goer spends around 120Rs for a film’s ticket, while it is 60 in the rural areas. In this theatre going audience, almost half of the audience spends for food and beverages during the interval.
Out of that, an approximate of 30 to 40 percent of people consume foreign beverages like Pepsi and Coke. But the new decision of stopping the sales of foreign products is bound to affect the theatre’s income.
When we checked about this with Ruban, proprietor of G.K.Cinemas, Porur, he said, “Yes, we have already banned Pepsi and Coke, but we will manage the loss. Instead, we have started to sell Panneer Soda, and other drinks that indirectly boosts the revenue of farmers.”
Looks like many other leading theatres in Chennai will also start this practice very soon.
