WOW! VIJAY SETHUPATHI'S SUPER-HIT MOVIE TO BE REMADE IN THIS LANGUAGE! FULL DEETS

'96' revolves around two high school sweethearts from the batch of 1996 who meet at a reunion, 22 years after they parted. Not just the storyline, but the background score and music of the film made by Govind Vasantha was widely appreciated by critics and was considered one of the best soundtracks of the year. 

Producer Ajay Kapoor has officially bagged the rights to remake the blockbuster movie in Hindi. Vijay Sethupathi took to Twitter to confirm the news and said, "As an actor, it gives me immense joy to tell stories which strike a chord with the audience, the happiness is further elevated when it reaches a wider audience.  '96' has been a lovely experience for me, now as Producer Ajay Kapoor takes this journey ahead with the Hindi remake, I wish him all the best! Can't wait." The cast and crew of the movie is set to be announced soon.

This is not the first time ''96' has been remade in another language. In 2019, the movie was remade in Kannada by Preetham Gubbi as '99'. It featured Ganesh and Bhavana in the lead roles. In 2020, Premkumar himself remade the movie in Telugu as 'Jaanu'. The movie had Sharwanand and Samantha Akkineni in the lead roles.

Producer Ajay Kapoor is known for acclaimed films like Baby, Airlift, Karzzzz, Roy, and Bhootnath Returns. He's currently finished shooting for the upcoming film ‘Attack', and recently having announced a big-budget Afghanistan rescue mission project 'Garud'.
