Apart from Superstar Rajinikanth, 'Annaatthe' also features Khushbu, Meena, Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu, Soori, Sathish, Bala (Director Siva’s brother) to name a few in prominent roles and is a D Imman musical.

Rajinikanth lights up the screens as protagonist Kalaiayyan, the Panchayat President of Soorakottai, the place where the story takes place. Keerthy Suresh is seen playing Rajinikanth’s sister, while Nayanthara is paired opposite him as the romantic lead. The antagonists are played by Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj and Abhimanyu Singh. An important portion of the film is set in Kolkata.

'Annaatthe' has been receiving positive reviews and fans are thronging to theatres in large numbers to catch a glimpse of their beloved 'Thalaivar' in full glory as seen in the eightees and ninetees. Shows are running housefull in Tamil Nadu and in other states. Many celebrities are heading to theatres and fans seem to have caught Shalini Ajith and her son Aadvik along with his uncle Richard Rishi in the big screens watching Rajinikanth's movie.

Several images of them watching a show in Sathyam Cinemas have been going viral on social media. Fans also gathered to take pictures with her. It is said that Shalini screamed the name 'Thalaivaa' and enjoyed watching 'Annaatthe' in theatres along with her family. Thala Ajith wasn't seen along with them.

Thala Ajith is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, 'Valimai' directed by H Vinoth that is all set to hit the big screens on Pongal 2022.
