Actor-politician Kamal Haasan returned to host the fifth season of Bigg Boss Tamil on October 3, that introduced all the 18 new contestants. Ranging from actors and TV hosts to singers and entrepreneurs, the reality show on Vijay kicked off in style, with several performances, glitz and glamour.

Transgender Namitha Marimuthu was the fifth contestant who got into the house. She is a popular model, actress and social worker who won the Miss Trans Star International 2020 pageant. 'Nadodigal 2' marked her singing and acting debut. The movie also starred M Sasikumar, Anjali and Athulya Ravi. She is the first transgender contestant to enter the show.

Namitha, who was in the news for her charity work during Covid induced lockdown has helped the poor and needy during the crisis. She also came forward to help the LGBTQ+ community in need. A video of her distributing food to poor children and the elderly is now going viral on social media. The video was posted on her Instagram page a few months back during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Captioning the video, Namitha wrote, "Not for advertisement this video everyone can help others by giving food per day or per meal plz try to help each other."

The diva, who had a rousing welcome in the Bigg Boss House as soon as she came in, has also been enthralling audience with her breathtaking pictures on Instagram.

Gaana Singer Isaivani, Vijay TV serial actor Raju Jeyamohan, costume designer Mathumitha, transgender beauty queen Namitha Marimuthu, YouTuber and movie reviewer Abishek Raja, TV anchor Priyanka Deshpande, Actor and Agriculturist Abhinay Vaddi, Model and Actress Pavni Reddy, folk singer Chinna Ponnu, model and social media star Nadia Chang, Actor Varun, TV anchor Imman Annachi, model and basketball player Suruthi, model and beauty pageant winner Akshara Reddy, singer-songwriter Iykki Berry, folk singer Thamarai Selvi, Actor Ciby Chandran and entrepreneur-cum-acting aspirant Niroop were the 18 contestants who are inside the bigg boss house currently.
