Imsai Arasan 23aam Pulikesi is a 2006 Tamil film written and directed by Chimbudevan starring Vadivelu, Nasser and Late Manorama in crucial roles. The movie went on to become one of the major hits of that year and accolades poured in for Vadivelu's portrayal of the dangerously foolish ruler.
A sequel to the film has been planned, titled Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi which is to be helmed by Chimbudevan and Vadivelu playing the lead. The makers also released a first look motion poster during mid-2017. But the filming has been temporarily shelved due to an ongoing trial proceeding against Vadivelu in the Nadigar Sangam.
Meanwhile, rumours of comedian Yogi Babu replacing Vadivelu as the sequel's lead actor has been going around. Sources close to us have categorically denied this rumour. Despite being a rumour, this idea has fired the imagination of many a filmgoer as Yogi Babu is an apt choice to play the role of the reel life king's successor.
