OSCAR 2022: "THERE IS NO PLACE FOR VIOLENCE IN THIS WORLD" - WILL SMITH'S STATEMENT GOES VIRAL!

The Oscars are the most sought after film awards in the world. The award, which is given exclusively to Hollywood films and foreign language films, has been underway for 93 years now. The 94th annual Oscar ceremony ended yesterday.

An embarrassing event took place on the Oscars yesterday and garnered worldwide attention. Actor Chris Rock, who came to announce the award for Best Documentary, told a joke about Will Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith's hair (she had shaved off her hair recently due to a health issue).

This enraged Will Smith, who stormed the stage and slapped Chris Rock. He then angrily shouted ‘Stop saying my wife’s name’ and went to his seat. Will Smith's outburst caused the Oscars stage to be abuzz with embarrassment for a few seconds. Chris Rock then took to the stage, saying, "This is going to be one of the most important nights in the history of television."

Chris Rock is also said to have apologized to the Smith family after the incident. Speaking on stage at the Oscars, Will Smith said, "Love can make you do crazy things like this." 

Will Smith has now issued a statement regretting his actions. His statement reads - "Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.

"I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.

"I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.
