In an exclusive interview with Behindwoods, Arya said, "When I heard the story, I fell in love with the characters. There is a story being told here. The life of people from 1975 in North Chennai, the political scenario, social issues, cultural awareness and everything was beautifully represented."

When asked if he would act with others heroes apart from Actor Vishal as the villain, he said, "Yes, surely. I have done that with Ajith sir. Now, I want to do one with Vijay sir. If opportunity arrives, I'll definitely take it up."

"Dushara plays the character of my wife in the movie. Her character is very bold and unafraid of anyone. Anupama Kumar, who plays my mother, is also very strong," he said, explaining about representation of the women characters on screen.

Appreciating the efforts taken by Pa Ranjith to make the film a success, Arya noted that he took nearly ten years to research about the story and represent it in a proper manner. "He has taken maximum efforts. Right from the first look to the release, he has worked honestly and I hope it connects with the audience," he added.
