He was admitted to a private hospital in Vadapalani yesterday (April 16) morning with symptoms of a sudden heart attack. Doctors there were giving him intensive treatment. However, Vivekh passed away today (April 17) at 4.35 am after not responding to treatment. His demise has caused great distress among fans and other celebrities.
I worked with Vivek Sir in 2019 on the film 'Yathum Ure Yavarum Kelir'. I thought he would come back soon, said Vijay Sethupathi after paying his respects in person. He added that in 2004, he had come to the actor's house for some marketing work and didn't expect to return to his house for such an occasion.

I am saddened and shocked to know that my good friend, Vivekh, who was being treated for a heart attack, has passed away. Vivekh, whose comedy was filled with social awareness, also cared about protecting environment and planting trees. It is a great loss for Tamil society and the film industry, said deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam.
