Sound designer and recordist Sampath, whose career spanned over five decades, passed away on May 1 at 4:45 PM. He was the former in-charge of the sound department in AVM Studios
Sampath joined AVM studios in 1955 as an apprentice and later went on to make his debut as an independent audiographer for the song Pazhagum Tamizhey in the 1960 film Parthiban Kanavu.
Sampath was one of the chief audiographers of AVM studios' RR theatre, where the veteran has worked for over 52 years until his retirement in 2008. Sampath was a three-time recipient of the State award in 1989, 1991 and 1993.
