"WILL YOU WATCH THESE A-RATED MOVIES ON OTT WITH YOUR FAMILY" - POPULAR THEATRE OWNER LASHES OUT

Reacting to this, popular theatre owner Tiruppur Subramaniam has said that “RGV’s movie is going to be released in OTT. People will be forced to watch this A-rated movie with their families at home. If movies start releasing in OTT, this is how the situation will be.”

He also added that “In theatres, we have the censor certificate, where it is certified according to the audience and only people aged 18 and above will be allowed for an A-rated movie. You can enjoy a movie along with your family, according to the censor certificate. This is not the case with OTT.”

This statement from him came after the ongoing ‘Theatres vs OTT’ issue in the industry right now. Some producers have decided to release their films directly on OTT instead of waiting for the theatres to open, in order to fight the cash-crunch they are currently facing. This inturn, has not pleased the theatre owners, as their business and investments are at stake.

Both parties will have to discuss together and come-up with a solution that is beneficial for all.
