Popular TV actor, model and singer Karan Oberoi was earlier arrested by the police for his alleged involvement in the rape and blackmail of a woman on the pretext of marrying her. The actor was reportedly taken under custody at the Oshiwara Police on May 6.
Following the arrest, the actor was granted bail by the Bombay High court and was required to deposit Rs. 50,000 in cash. Now, a major turn of events happened in due course of the case. The woman, who had levelled the charges against the actor, has been arrested by the police on charges of staged attack and was produced before a court on Monday.
The woman has been arrested for framing the actor. On May 25th, reportedly the alleged victim had also complained about an attack that was caused by two knife-borne miscreants who then threw a letter at her threatening to take back the complaint.
The police had earlier arrested the lawyer and the woman based on the former's statement . On May 6, based on the woman's complaint, a case was registered against Karan Oberoi under sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 386 (Extortion by putting a person in fear of death) of the Indian Penal Code.
Karan Oberoi had earlier appeared in many popular shows like Swabhimaan, Inside Edge, Saaya and had also hosted the hit comedy show The Great Indian Comedy show in 2004
