WORLD'S PRESTIGIOUS ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS, THE OSCARS TO NOT HAPPEN THIS TIME?

Variety Magazine reported that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is considering the situation and the Oscars, currently due to take place on February 28, 2021, will probably be postponed. However, no formal discussions are thought to have yet taken place, a disclaimer says.

It has been utter chaos as far as film production is concerned. Many movies have either released online or postponed indefinitely. The Academy too revised its eligibility guidelines and allowed films that released online to participate. Earlier, there was a stipulation that a movie has to be screened in a cinema hall for a week before December 31 in order to be eligible.

Academy president David Rubin told Variety: “It’s impossible to know what the landscape will be. We know we want to celebrate film but we do not know exactly what form it will take.”
