Written and directed by renowned director Ganesh Vinayagan, the film stars Tarun Kumar and ‘Enga Veedu Mappillai’ Aparnathy in the lead roles. It stars Aruldas and Bawa Lakshmanan in supporting roles.

The film was critically acclaimed and revolved around the life of an uneducated rural beekeeper and how he copes with the burdens and problems that society imposes on him.

The honey movie is based on a real life event that reflects stressful feelings. It depicts the story of Velu (played by Tarunkumar), an uneducated young man in the beekeeping profession, and his financially backward husband, who faces the death of his wife Poongodi (played by Aparnathy), who is diagnosed with a rare disease.

It shows the turmoil of Amarr's inability to pay for his vehicle as he tries to take his dead wife's body to the crematorium. It realistically expresses the suffering and anguish of the indigenous peoples living in the jungles in an environment where others are receiving and enjoying the services of the state. This heart-wrenching sad story of a family living on the foundation of love, a victim of life's extreme challenges, is sure to be a great film to watch, think and act on.

Speaking on the TV premiere, director Ganesh Vinayagan said: “I wrote the story 'Honey' and directed it as a film because I wanted to bring to light the real life story of the Muthuvan tribes of Tamil Nadu who actually faced similar events as shown in the film.

Through this story, I wanted to create awareness among the audience about the trials, tribulations and struggles of the economically backward sections of the society. I'm pleased to have my film aired on Colors Tamil, a television station that promotes stories and films that make a creative impact on its fans. ”
