NO FILMS WILL RELEASE AFTER MARCH 27 IF THESE CONDITIONS AREN'T MET: T. RAJENDAR'S EXPLOSIVE STATEMENT
Home > Tamil Movies > Tamil Cinema NewsTamil Film Distributors association has announced that there will be no releases after March 27 if the Tamil Nadu Government fails to cancel the 10 percent TDS (Tax Deduction at Source) levied on film distributors.
The concerns were addressed in the press meet which was held by T. Rajendhar, president of the Chennai, Chengalpet and Kanyakumari Film Distributors Association. The press conference was also headed by Coimbatore Distributors Association President Raja Mannar and Tirunelveli Distributors Association Vice-President Prathap Raja.
According to a press release, the association also demanded the abolition of the eight-percent LBT (Local Body Tax) that is attached to the 12 percent GST that is levied on tickets as the tax is burdening for the ticket paying public.
It must be noted that this move might affect the summer releases of 2020, since a major chunk of highly anticipated films are scheduled to release around this period.
