During the recent election campaign for the 2019 General elections, popular silverscreen personality and Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan made a controversial speech in his campaign speech at the Aravakkurichi constituency.
While canvassing for a candidate, the actor-politician remarked that "The first terrorist of independant India is a Hindu. His name is Nathuram Godse. I am like a spiritual grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, hence I will question that."
Kamal Haasan's speech his invited criticism from various quarters of the film industry and in the political arena. When the media questioned actor Rajinikanth at the Chennai airport regarding the issue, the superstar denied to comment. Rajinikanth will be seen in the A.R Murugadoss-directed Darbar and the shooting is currently happening at a brisk pace.
