It’s that time of the year again. A whole new sense of purpose. And the country gearing up together to welcome a weeklong festival of ‘giving’...
A journey that began back in 2009, Daan Utsav was born with the intent to bring together people from different walks of life to celebrate one common cause - “to give.”
Stepping into the 10th year since its inception, organisations from across the country have stepped forward to partake in this joyous celebration, including Chennai’s quintessential cinema chain, SPI Cinemas.
Continuing the yearly tradition of thematic events, this year’s edition at SPI Cinemas is centered around the theme ‘Ore Kana.’ Literally translating to A Dream, the festival seeks to discover the one dream that everyone has and bring it to life through contributions from the community - no matter however big or small.
“We became a part of Daan Utsav in the year 2013, as the concept of the festival resonated perfectly with our DNA - to be innovative, inclusive and simply do things with a lot of intent,” says Ramya Natarajan Manager - Branding and Marketing, SPI Cinemas.
Adding to this, Ratheesh Krishnan, Chef du Adventures at SPI Cinemas says “We understood that we had the potential to be a catalyst for social change events and causes as we are a Public Space. We bridge the gap between people who have a wish and people who can make that wish come true. However, we can only be a platform to amplify this cause, the process of giving is complete only when everyone in the society participates by doing their part.”
The line up for this year’s Joy of Giving week is:
