Actress Rashmi Gautam, who has been predominantly acting in Telugu films, was involved in an accident on Sunday night. She was travelling in a cab after finishing a shoot, and the car was moving on a highway near Vishakhapatnam. When a man tried crossing the road, he was hit and severely injured.
The actress instantly called up 108, but the response was late, so she took the onus upon her to admit him to a government hospital. Later, the emergency services arrived and she took them to a private hospital.
She also lamented that the people were not ready to help the victim. She said a lot of people had gathered around when the accident took place, but no one came forward to help us, instead they were busy taking selfies. "People have to look beyond celebrities, and realise that there is a human life at stake," said the actress.
Rashmi Gautam has acted in films like Next Nuuve, Guntur Talkies, Kandaen, and others. A case has been filed against the driver. The pedestrian is in a serious condition but is undergoing treatment.
