Incidentally, a case was lodged in the Madurai Sessions Court by a Madurai based Director Ravirathnam, stating that Lingaa's story was actually the story of his script 'Mullai Vanam 999'. Rockline Productions had lodged a case in the Supreme Court to dismiss this case, while in the same time they also paid an insurance sum of Rs. 10 Crores in the court and released the film.
