Veteran director Mahendran had passed away on 2nd April. The last rites will be performed by today evening. Various celebrities have attended the funeral and shared their deepest condolences with Mahendran’s family members.
Rajinikanth, who met the press at Mahendran’s residence shared his memories with the ace director. Speaking about Mahendran, Rajinikanth said “He is a very dear friend of mine. Our friendship is greater than cinema, and is very deep. He showed there is another Rajinikanth inside me. He taught me a different dimension of acting.”
“After watching Mullum Malarum, director K.Balachander wrote a letter to me saying he was very proud that he introduced me to Tamil cinema. Director Mahendran is the reason for that. Recently, we met during the shooting of Petta. We spent a lot of time talking to each other after so long. He was disappointed with today’s society, cinema and politics.”
“He is still a role model to many new age directors. His loss is a very huge loss to Tamil cinema. Until the day Tamil Cinema exists, Mahendran sir will have a place in it. May his soul rest in peace.”
