Actor and director Raghava Lawrence was last seen in the film Kanchana 3 alongside Oviya, Vedhika, and Nikki Tamboli. He had directed the film himself, and also produced it in association with Kalanithi Maran under the banner Sun Pictures. The film had a supporting cast comprising of Kovai Sarala, Soori, Sriman, Devadarshini and others.
The film had a monstrous run at the box office, especially in Chennai where it collected more than 7 crores. Raghava then moved on to Bollywood to direct Laxmmi Bomb, the Hindi remake of Kanchana, which was the second film of the Muni franchise, and first film of the Kanchana series of movies.
Laxmmi Bomb has Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. The film is produced by Shabina Khan and Tusshar Kapoor under the banner Cape of Good Films, Tushar Entertainment House and Shabina Entertainment. It was scheduled for a 2020 release.
On the day the first look poster of Laxmmi Bomb was released, Raghava stepped out of the project as he wasn't given proper respect, and the producers allegedly released the poster without informing him. Now, he has released another statement addressing the fans, and also declaring that there is a chance of him rejoining the project.
The statement read:
"Hi friends and fans,
I had tweeted about stepping out of the Hindi film 'Laxmmi Bomb' a few days back. Post my tweet both Akshay Kumar Sir fans and my fans have been requesting me to do this film. I'm over-whelmed with their genuine love. But trust me, I'm equally upset for the past 1 week as you are. I was very thrilled to do this film, as I almost waited very long to direct this film, spent a lot of quality time on pre-production works and have also blocked my dates for this film. Tomorrow, the Producers are coming to Chennai to meet me. It's completely in their hands now, if I'm given proper self-respect for my job, then I'll think about it. Let's see after the meeting. Wanted to share this message to all the fans who were genuinely concerned.
Love, Raghava Lawrence."
