Narain Karthikeyan is one of the pioneers of Formula One racing in India and has represented many formula one teams on the international level. The racer was awarded the Padma Shri award in 2010.
In a recent interview to Behindwoods, the actor passionately spoke about his love for racing, automobiles and the racing history of Tamil Nadu. The actor said that "A hundred percent of the racing cars are manufactured in Coimbatore. Coimbatore is the epicentre for motorsport in India."
The Formula one racer was all in praise for actor Ajith Kumar, who has also had his tryst with Formula 2 racing and had also participated in the BMW Formula 2 championship. When asked about the actor's passion for racing, Narain replied "Most of them know Ajith Kumar as an actor, but not many knew that he is a mult-talented person. He knows how to operate remote controlled cars and planes."
When asked about how he would define Ajith as a racer, Narain quipped that "Had he started ten years ago, he could have left acting to pursue racing as a full time profession. He wanted to try it and really feel what he wanted to be. Despite lesser experience, he still did some good races and had got some podiums which, is incredible."
