There had been plagiarism issues raised about the story of 'Hero', and PS Mithran has come forward with clarifications about the same. In a letter to the South Indian Film Writers Association, he has explained about how he had registered the script with the association and all the details regarding the discussions he had regarding with a 25 member panel. He mentioned in that letter that he was instructed to give compensation.
Also, according to the words of the director, "I had scripted my story inspired from newspaper articles. I also have the audio files and evidences regarding the discussions I held with my team that lead to the development of the complete script. Pon Parthiban, Savari Muthu, Antony Bhagyaraj are three other writers who have worked with me in this film and I have paid them as well. I am a person who respects writers too but why I have to pay someone who is not related to this project is what I do not understand". Also, he has concluded that all that he wants is for the association members to come to a fair decision by comparing both the scripts.
