On his Twitter account, Hal Willner had shared the saddening news of having been diagnosed in a March 28 tweet. He described himself as “in bed on upper west side” and said, “I always wanted to have a number one, but not this” in the tweet.
The producer’s last tweet was to wish John Prine speedy recovery, as Prine fell ill with COVID-19 and passed away. Willner's most recent project was producing a yet-to-be released tribute album in honour of Marc Bolan and T. Rex that included U2, Joan Jett, Nick Cave and more. May the departed soul rest in peace!
