Acclaimed actor, director, writer and playwright Girish Karnad passes away due to prolonged illness on 10th June in his Bengaluru residence. The actor was aged 81. The film and literary fraternity are saddened by this incident, with stalwarts like Kamal Haasan, PC Sreeram and many pouring their tributes and condolences.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also tweeted that he is saddened by the demise of the veteran artist. The Prime Minister had also expressed his admiration towards the versatile perfromances of Girish Karnad that spans across various mediums.
Girish Karnad will be remembered for his versatile acting across all mediums. He also spoke passionately on causes dear to him. His works will continue being popular in the years to come. Saddened by his demise. May his soul rest in peace.

Girish Karnad is the playwright behind some of the well crafted plays like Tughlaq, Taledanda and Odakalu Bimba. The actor had also appeared in Tamil films, notably Kadhalan, Ratchagan, Naan Adimai Illai and was last seen in the Suriya-starrer 24.
