Darbar is actor Rajinikanth's next film after Shankar's 2.0 and Karthik Subbaraj's Petta. The film has Nayanthara as the female lead, while Yogi Babu, Jatin Sarna and others play crucial supporting roles. The film is directed by AR Murugadoss, and produced by Lyca Productions.
The shoot of the film is progressing at a brisk pace in Mumbai, and we keep hearing regular updates about the new additions to the cast. The latest update about the film is that actor Pradeep Kabra has joined the team.
It must be noted that Pradeep had also played a role in Pa Ranjith's Kaala, as one of Hari Dada's (Nana Patekar) henchmen. It will be interesting to see how he is utilised for this film. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander, while Santosh Sivan will be cranking the camera for a Rajini film for the first time after Mani Ratnam's Thalapathi.
Rajini will also be donning the cop uniform for the first time after 25+ years, and was last seen in a police role in Pandiyan (1992). Darbar will be releasing for Pongal 2020, marking Rajini's second consecutive Pongal release after Petta this year.
