YouTube’s latest sensation, Gopi and Sudhakar are fondly known as ‘GoSu’. The duo is very famous for their YouTube videos ‘Parithabangal’, which depicts the everyday instances of normal people, and more importantly, politicians. The duo is all set to play the leads in a feature film, after cameos in films such as Meesaya Murukku and Mersal. Sudhakar will also be seen playing a crucial role in 'Uriyadi 2'.
Speaking about the movie, the director SAK says “This will be an out and out Fantasy - Comedy film. Gopi and Sudhakar will be playing the leads, along with seasoned actors playing supportive roles. The cast and crew is almost zeroed in, and we will reveal all the details soon. This will not be yet another political satire from the duo. We have seen a lot of those in their YouTube videos, so this is not based on that.”
“This movie will be based on the everyday life of normal people. Each and every person watching the movie could relate with it. Once we reveal the title, everyone will get to know about what the film has in store to offer. We have finalized the title, and it will soon be out.”
The special aspect of this film is that, it does not have a single producer. The film is entirely crowd funded. It will be produced by the audience, and the profit after the film is made will be shared with the audience too.
SAK said “We have collected 80 lakh rupees as of now. Our final aim is to collect 8 crores. However, our short term target is to reach 1.3 crores. That will mark the highest crowd funded film in India. We have raised the campaign for 45 days, and the response is really good. We have got 12000 producers as of now, which is really high. Once the campaign is over, we will be revealing all the details of the cast and crew, officially.”
The director also revealed that he had narrated the story to various big producers, but in vain. He said “I’ve met a lot of producers for this movie. They liked the story, but thought it was off-beat, and big heroes would not take up these roles. That’s why we proceeded with the crowd funding initiative.” The movie will go on floors from July, and the team is eyeing a release by the end of this year. Stay tuned for more updates on this film.
