Pahlaj Nihalani, who took the hot seat as the Director of Central Board of Film Certification in 2015 has been under the spot light for his methods of censoring. Most of the industry have expressed their dissent against him for his actions as the director of CBFC.
He had also become infamous after receiving a lot of negative response for his stand against films like Lipstick Under My Burkha and Indu Sarkar. Now, we hear that he may be replaced by the Board after he has come into the line of fire for contempt of court. It is said that Nihalani had refused to certify a film called KA Bodyscapes, following which the Kerala HC had issued a notice to the CBFC, and had ordered him to give his verdict by the month of May as the screening was held in February.
After he had ostensibly ignored all the subsequent reminders for his verdict, the HC had issued the notice. Speculations suggest that another screening is said to be held on the 28th of July and the same day, a Board meeting is expected to be held in which Pahlaj Nihalani could be asked to step down.
