"NOWADAYS VILLAGES ARE QUITE DEVELOPED WHEN COMPARED TO THE CITIES." - SHANMUGAM, EMINENCE GOLD MEDAL WINNER

The 5th Behindwoods Gold Medal Awards was conducted on June 17th in Chennai Trade Centre. Apart from honoring celebrities, we had also initiated to honor four individuals who have made significant contributions to the welfare of the society with Eminence awards.

Mr. Shanmugam, the celebrated Panchayat President of Odandhurai, Mettupalayam is a humanitarian and a genius. He has built over 850 houses in Odandhurai and has installed a windmill to provide free electricity to his entire village. He also sells the surplus electricity to TNEB, thereby making a village a self-sustaining one, received The Park Group of Institutions Presents Behindwoods Gold Medal for Eminence in Service to Mankind from Actor-Musician Hip Hop Aadhi & Dr. Anusha R, CEO, Park Institutions.

The winner in his speech said, "Only when our villages develop, the entire world can be considered as developed. I managed to bring clean and healthy water to my village. We as a council made houses for people below the poverty line. Nowadays villages are quite developed when compared to the cities. I can see drainage running on the roads in the city, but never in the villages.

We are trying and moving ahead. I have received so much of encouragement and appreciation all over the world. I request of all you to be selfless individuals and contribute to the welfare of our country. Only when we all take a step and interest towards ensuring the welfare of our country, we as individuals succeed in our lives."

The other proud eminence winners are Mr. SR Jangid, Mrs. Malarkodi, and Mr. Palam Kalyanasundaram.
