LATEST: MAMMOOTTY TO RETURN AS 'SETHURAMAIYAR CBI' AFTER 16 YEARS WITH THIS STELLAR CAST??
Home > Tamil Movies > Tamil Cinema NewsThe CBI film series consists of four Malayalam films directed by K. Madhu and written by S. N. Swami featuring Mammootty as Sethurama Iyer, a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer. The series started off in 1988 with Oru CBI Diary Kurippu.
The character Sethurama Iyer is said to have been inspired by a police officer named Radhavinod Raju, who in 2009 was appointed as the first chief of India's National Investigation Agency. The last film of this installment was released back in 2005.
Now after 16 years, the next film from this series is expected to kickstart on August 17th approximately - and not just that, if the buzz is expected to be true - Asha Sharath, Renji Panicker, Mukesh, Sai Kumar, and Soubhin Shahir might also be a part of the pain cast!
