IS CHINA IN THE MOOD FOR REVENGE? LOCAL BLOCKBUSTER BEATS TENET
Home > Tamil Movies > Tamil Cinema NewsSeveral theatres around the world had been closed in wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Slowly, the situation has been turning normal in most countries, save for India.
Christopher Nolan's Tenet was a film that was touted to bring back the theatre experience, however, a Chinese feature called "The Eight Hundred" seems to have spoiled the party for Tenet. Wonder how? Read below for more details.
While Tenet that released in 41 countries has made $53 million in its first week, The Eight Hundred, which released in China only, made $79.6 million is its first week and is well on its way to the $300 million score.
China has become the first national box office to return to normality. However, let's see if Tenet, which releases in China on September 4 could still get a shot in the arm or get a lukewarm response from the Chinese box office, which seems to be preferring local releases, as of now.
Mulan is also another film, piped for release in China though no official date has been set. Similarly, dates need to be announced for other entrants in the fray - The New Mutants and The Invisible Man.
