Regarding the controversy that blew up when he had shared a picture of his daughter with a Vinayakar statue, he said, “I don’t believe in God. I don’t worship idols. My mother believes in God. My daughter was curious about what happens to the idol when it gets immersed in water. I had even put up a tweet explaining this.”

He further added that while their core principle is that they don’t believe in God, they won’t stop others from following what they want to.

Regarding Home Minister Amit Shah’s criticism about dynasty politics, he said, “There are a few people in DMK who are offsprings. But they have proved themselves. It’s okay if someone hails from a particular background. What matters is their performance.”

When quizzed about DMK’s stand when it comes to NEET, Udhay said, “If DMK comes to power, we will do everything we can to abolish it like how it was done with Jallikattu a la a special ordinance.”

On Rajinikanth, as a parting shot, he said, let him first form the party, then we shall see whether it’s third front or fourth front.
