Actor/Director Parthiepan recently posted a picture with yesteryear actress Jayapradha. We at Behindwoods got in touch with him to get more details about his acting experience with her and the film.
He opened up by saying, "We shot for a movie called Keni, (which means well) directed by a Malayalam filmmaker M.A.Nishad. The story happens in the 1956 period when Kerala was separated from Tamil Nadu. A well which was constructed in the remote village of Tamil Nadu, falls into the state of Kerala when the state gets separated. So, the people of that village fight for the water in the well, but the people in Kerala do not give the water, as they say it belongs to their state. How does this problem get solved forms the core plot of the film.
Jayapradha plays the lead role, and I play an honourary important character role. The film has already been shot in Malayalam and Pasupathi has reprised my role in that version. A director, hailing from Mollywood, has taken up this issue to support the cause of Tamilians. It was a very interesting story, and that is why I decided to take up this film.
I worked as an associate director in Aakhri Raasta, in which Jayapradha played the heroine. I used to explain a scene to her that time, and now, when I share screenspace with her, it feels great."
With regard to his other projects in the line-up, Parthiepan says, "I have completed Thittam Poattu Thirudura Koottam and Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam, which is ready for release. We recently finished some fifteen to twenty days of shoot in Bulgaria for Vikram sir's Dhruva Natchathiram. It was like shooting for a Hollywood film, as the shots looked very stylish and neat. Gautham Menon narrated how the scene has to be done, and it has come out well. I am also shooting for G.V.Prakash - Baba Baskar's untitled film."
