In a recent interview to Behindwoods, the actress spoke about the recent encounter of the accused related to the assault of a Hyderabad-based veterinary doctor. Kasthuri commented that even if the action cannot be seen as a punishment, the much needed justice has been delivered to the victims.

The veteran actress heaped praise on Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for handling the situation well. Citing a recent TSRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) strike, she said that KCR is dealing issues with a compassionate and a strict hand.

When asked about the people's view on the case, Kasthuri commented that people are unequivocally supporting the decision and feels that any woman can walk freely in Hyderabad at night, and they started to feel reassured that the police will safeguard them. She also said that "We have been seeing tales of justice in cinema. Today, the police have done what our reel heroes did. Shamshabad Prakash Reddy did what Vijay had done in Theri."
