Kalank is a Hindi period romantic film with a star cast headlined by Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sanjay Dutt. The film was directed by Abhishek Varman and produced jointly by Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Fox Star Studios.
The film had a great opening due to this cast, but the collections fizzled out as days passed, and the film didn't perform well at the box office. Following this, reports say the producer Karan Johar will be returning money to Fox Star Studios and a few other distributors.
This film joins the recent list of big films like Thugs of Hindostan and Zero, that faced a loss because of the below par content. Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan owned up for the losses of their respective films, and agreed to refund money.
Kalank didn't quite appeal to a lot of audience members because of it's cliched romantic track filled with melodrama, and the length. Stay tuned for more updates.
