Being shot on a grand scale, the film is helmed by Vijay and features music composed by GV Prakash. The movie is bankrolled by Vishnu Induri and Shaailesh R. Singh. While Thalaivi's cinematographer is Vishal Vittal, K V Vijayendra Prasad has co-written the script.

On Jayalalithaa's 72nd birth anniversary, the makers had released a new look from the film and it has surprised many. The picture transforms Kangana into a young "Jaya Amma" where she can be seen complete with a white saree and a red bindi.

With the looks and the teaser of the film, the expectations have been stirred up for sure. It has been learnt exclusively now that the satellite and digital rights of the film have been acquired by Zee Tamil. The film is all set to hit the big screens on June 26, 2020.
