Malayalam film Kammattipadam directed by Rajeev Ravi is hitting the screen tomorrow, the 20th May and its heroine Shaun Romy talks to behindwoods:
How did you bag the film?
I was in Bangalore for a long time and moved to Kochi three years ago. I was working here when one of my friends informed me about the audition for this film. I attended the audition and look test and was selected for the film.
Your character
I play a girl called Anita. She is born and brought up in Kammattipadam. My character is shown from the age of 5 years to 37. I play the role from 20 years onwards. Anita is an athlete and is from a poor ground; she is very shy and innocent.
Working in Kammattipadam
Before we began the shoot, Geethu Mohandas (wife of director Rajeev Ravi) trained me. She explained to me about the requirements of the character. Apart from it, I had to learn the Kochi slang and the body language of the people from 80s. All the characters in the film are from Kammattipadam and slowly I was used to people talking in the same manner with a similar body language.
Dulquer Salmaan
Initially I was scared. My first day of shoot was a full fledged acting scene. I was nervous because if I mess up, Dulquer also had to repeat the scene. But Dulquer was very understanding. He was just like a normal person and very supportive.
Family
My mom is a homemaker and dad is into construction. They live in Trivandrum. My younger brother is in Bangalore. I am the first one to come into the films. Even after I completed my engineering I never wanted to work in that field. My folks knew that I was creative and would pursue a career in that field. My brother has done his direction course and he was so excited when I told him, I will be working under Rajeev Ravi. My family is happy that I got to do this film.
Any other project in the pipeline?
No. I am yet to sign any. Since I have worked with a brilliant cast for my debut, I want to choose something that would give me the ‘wow’ feeling.
Best wishe Shaun Romy!
