After playing solid supporting roles in films like Madras, and Kabali, Kalaiyarasan went on to become a lead hero with films like Urumeen, and Adhe Kangal. He is best known for his performance in Ranjith's Madras, where he played the character, Anbu.

In the recently released teaser of the Sodakku song from Suriya's Thaana Serndha Koottam, we can see Kalaiyarasan shaking a leg alongside Suriya. When we contacted him to find out more about his role in TSK, he said, "I will be playing a cameo in Thaana Serndha Koottam! I am also up for doing supporting characters always.". When asked about his future projects as a lead, he said, "I have finished shooting for a romantic comedy film directed by newcomer Janakiraman under CV Kumar's production, after our successful venture, Adhe Kangal. This film will release after CV Kumar's Maayavan."
