Superstar Rajinikanth's Kaala is all set to release on June 7. Directed by Pa Ranjith, this film has music scored by his trusted aide- Santhosh Narayanan.

The first single track of the film, titled Semma Weight’u released today and here is our review:

Semma Weightu is a hip hop style song, with a rap portions in between. Dope Daddy, Stony Psyko, MC Mawali and Arunraja Kamaraj do justice to the rap portion. This song gives us a feel of ‘Ulagam Oruvanukka from Kabali’ at various places.

Santhosh Narayanan is someone who doesn’t shy away from experimenting. This song has ‘Beat Slayer’ beatboxing in the background, which sounds exciting. The usage of trumpets has also been efficient. The song puts the spotlight on Dharavi and Rajini, and will certainly land as a fans favourite. Comparing this with previous Rajinikanth introduction songs, it is a brilliant number, but falls short of being the best.

Nevertheless, the song title echoes the experience of a Rajini fan while listening to it - Semma Weightu!
