After the success of Hara Hara Mahadevaki, director Santhosh P Jayakumar signed Gautham Karthik yet again to make Iruttu Arayil Murattu Kuththu. Both films were adult rated and he was termed as an adult film director.
Post the astounding box-office success of both the films, he was signed on by Studio Green to direct Ghajinikanth, the remake of the Telugu film Bhale Bhale Magadivoy with Arya in the lead. This time, it is a 'U' rated film.
Speaking at the press meet of Ghajinikanth, Santhosh addressed the controversies that surrounded IAMK;
"IAMK was an Adult film and the A certificate is given so that people below 18 years of age don't watch the film. People above the age of 18 know whom to watch the film with. The ones who understood this wouldn't have spoken, and we are not listening to anybody who did not understand this.
Coming to this film, it is U rated. Over 200 films release in a year and all these films cross the censor board and only come. I don't understand why only Santhosh P Jayakumar is questioned as to what they told about my films. Along with my producers, I take the decision as to what kind of films I must make. We decide the level of the film and promote accordingly. If this is understood clearly, I think we can avoid controversies.
Last time for IAMK, I asked you not to go with families, This film is for families and I request you to go with your family. Don't make me direct adult films again by not going for this film with your family. I have planned to travel in this genre for a while now, so it depends upon how you guys receive it."
