Shankar, who is known as a great director in Tamil cinema, can be said to have proved himself in all the films he has directed so far. He is currently directing "Indian 2" with Kamal Haasan in the lead.
A writer had filed a civil lawsuit in 2010 alleging that the story of the first part of the film 'Endhiran' directed by Shankar was his own and had filed another case in the court seeking compensation of Rs 1 crore for violating the patent.
Following this, there were reports saying director Shankar has been issued a non-bailable warrant by the Egmore Magistrate for not appearing in court. Shankar has now released a statement on this.
Denying that a warrant has been issued against him, he said - "My advocate Mr Sai Kumaran has approached the Honourable Court today and brought this to the Court's attention. The Learned Judge was pleased to immediately confirm that no warrant has apparently occurred due to a glitch in the online court reporting, which is presently being corrected.
I am very surprised to see such false news being circulated without any verification, and the same has caused needless anguish to my family and well-wishers. I request this clarification will be carried by all media to ensure that such false news does not spread any further."
