LEGENDARY DIRECTOR PASSES AWAY - HUGE LOSS TO INDIAN CINEMA

Mrinal Sen is a Bengali film director, who is considered to be one of the legends of Indian Cinema. He made his debut through a film called Raat Bhore, that had star actor Uttam Kumar in the lead role. Sen, along with Satyajit Ray and Ritwik Ghatak were famous for depicting social reality in their films.
He has personally won 7 National awards for Best Direction and Best Screenplay, while 8 of his films have won the National Award for the Best Film.
The celebrated filmmaker is now no more, as he died due to age related ailments at his residence in Kolkata, today. He was 95 and is survived by his son, Kunal. His wife, Gita Sen, died in 2017.
Mrinal Sen was also conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honor given to an Indian filmmaker, in the year 2003. In 2017, he was inducted as a member of the Oscar Academy, and he is also a Padma Bhushan Awardee.
His loss is certainly a loss to the whole Indian Film industry. We deliver our condolences to the legend and his family.
