Earlier yesterday (Oct 15), popular television actress Rani had registered a police complaint against popular actor Shanmugarajan claiming sexual harassment.
She took the issue to the Redhills police station and registered a complaint that he was harassing her and also assaulted her by slapping her. After registering the complaint, she met the press.
While speaking to the press she said, "Instead of acting, he is really doing some things and behaving very badly. When asked to hold, he is doing it inappropriately. When my husband came and questioned this, he hit me for taking the matter to my husband"
Later that evening, Rani had withdrawn the complaint and stated, "There are over 350 families who are dependent on this TV serial. My complaint, and walking out of this show will affect all those families. He also accepted his mistakes and apologized for it to me and my husband. He said that it won't repeat again and even the police officials have warned him. So, I decided to withdraw the complaint."
Contrary to Rani's statements, when the Virumaandi actor met the press, he said, "What she says is not true. She had given a false complaint. There was a minor incident that took place at the shooting spot. In a shot, instead of acting like she is hitting me, she actually hit me. This will be telecasted tomorrow, and you can see that for yourself. At that moment, I reacted.
That became an issue and she came to the police station to give a complaint. Without knowing what to do, she said I have sexually harassed her. Now, she herself has come and withdrawn the complaint. I didn't apologize to her at all."
However, on the whole, the issue seems to have been sorted after Rani withdrew her complaint.
